Loan Watch: Willock fires Newcastle towards safety

Joe Willock

Nine of our players were in action for their respective loan clubs over the weekend - but how did they perform? Read on to find out:

Joe Willock scored his fifth Newcastle goal in 11 games on Friday as Steve Bruce's side beat Leicester 4-2 at the King Power Stadium.

Our 21-year-old midfielder opened the scoring before goals from Paul Dummett and a brace from Callum Wilson put Newcastle 4-0 up. The Foxes then struck twice in the final 10 minutes through Marc Albrighton and Kelechi Iheanacho.

The win moves the Magpies up to 14th in the Premier League with three games remaining.

Tyreece John-Jules played the full match and scored for Doncaster in their 4-1 defeat to Peterborough on Sunday. Mohamed Eisa, Niall Mason, Idris Kanu and Ricky-Jade Jones all notched for the visitors before John-Jules bagged a late consolation.

Over in France, William Saliba played the entire game as Nice got back to winning ways in Ligue 1. Our French defender had work to do when his side were reduced to 10 men after 52 minutes, but two goals in the final half an hour saw them overturn a 2-1 deficit at the break to take all three points from the Allianz Riviera.

Sead Kolasinac played the entire game as Schalke lost again in the Bundesliga. Despite enjoying a two-goal advantage at the break, Kolasinac's side conceded four times in 19 second-half minutes to give Hoffenheim a 4-2 win.

Mark McGuinness played the full match as Ipswich beat Fleetwood 3-1 at home on Sunday. McGuinness has enjoyed a strong end to the season at Portman Road after returning to the starting XI in mid-April, helping his side pick up eight points from their last four games.

James Olayinka played 82 minutes as Southend drew 1-1 with Newport in League Two. Shaun Hobson opened the scoring for Olayinka's side before Mickey Demetriou levelled shortly before the hour mark.

Joseph Olowu played the entire match as Wealdstone were beaten 5-0 at home against Dagenham & Redbridge. Our 21-year-old defender has started each of the last five games for his loan side.

Harry Clarke played 74 minutes as Oldham lost 3-0 to Forest Green in League Two on Saturday. Clarke was replaced by Sido Jombati in the closing stages as his side looked for a way back into the game.

Finally, Ben Sheaf made his return from injury in Coventry's 6-1 win over Millwall this weekend. Sheaf replaced Michael Rose late on to get his first minutes since a 0-0 draw at home to Wycombe in mid-March.
